Local SEO: Just a quick word
As of January 2008 all of the major search engines, including Google, began to display a separate box at the top of their search result pages for locally-targeted keywords and key phrases (like “Pizza near Bloomfield, NJ”). This new interface features a map and a list of about ten businesses.
